Require immediate crew attention. These messages are accompanied by flashing master warning, triple chime attenson with or without voice message or dedicated tone. Require immediate crew awareness and future crew action may be required in the form of alternate system selection or performance limitation. These message are accompanied by flashing master caution and a single chime. Indicate safe or normal system operation which require crew awareness, over and above the dark cockpit philosophy. Reporting LRU: Flight Control Unit (FCU) 2
System Description: 27-60-00
Schematic Diagram: 27-60-00 [ Global Express ]  [ G5000 ]  [ Global XRS ]
Wiring Diagram: 27-60-03 [ Global Express ]  [ G5000 ]  [ Global XRS ]
27-60-04 [ Global Express ]  [ G5000 ]  [ Global XRS ]

Fault Description:

The Flight Control Unit 2 (FCU) does not receive the correct signals from the Throttle Quadrant. The FCUs use the Engine Lever position for the ground lift dumping logic. The Lever position gives take-off, idle and thrust reversers signals to the logic through the Rotary Variable-Differential Transformers (RVDTs).

Possible Causes:

  • Flight-Control Unit (FCU) 2 (A66)
  • Throttle Quadrant (AP41)
  • Associated Wiring

Troubleshooting Tips:

Advisory Wire/Service Bulletin: None

Forum Articles/Infoservice/Newsletter: None

Each FCU is associated with one set of left and right throttles RVDTs. Left throttle RVDT is received in COM and right in MON.

The Throttle Quadrant position can be monitored in CAIMS:

  1. SYSTEM DIAG
  2. 27-00 FLIGHT CONTROLS
  3. FLIGHT CONTROL UNIT #1(2)
  4. LRU TEST
  5. DISPLAY HANDWHEEL / THROTTLE DATA
  6. Confirm
  7. Go to page 2/2
NOTE: Throttles at MAX THRUST - The LH (RH) ENG THROTTLE LEVER XDCR SET OWN on channel A increase to 39.00 ±1.25 degrees and on channel B increase to 39.00 ±1.57 degrees.

NOTE: Throttle aft to the MAX REV - The LH (RH) ENG THROTTLE LEVER XDCR SET OWN on channel A decrease to -22.50 ±1.25 degrees and on channel B decrease to -22.50 ±1.57 degrees.

This fault may sometime be cleared by performing the flight control system reset procedure. If the message comes back more then once within 10 flight legs, troubleshooting is required.

Troubleshooting Recommendations:

  1. Swap FCU 2 with FCU 1.

    1. If system checks are good, replace FCU 2. Reset FCUs latched faults and do close out.
    2. If fault remains, continue with next step.

  2. Perform wiring checks between FCU 2 (A66) to the Throttle quadrant (AP41P3).

    1. If wiring checks are not good, repair defective wiring as required and do close out.
    2. If wiring checks are good, continue with next step.

  3. Replace Throttle Quadrant.
  4. Do close out.
