Reporting LRU: Slat/Flap Control Unit (SFCU)
System Description: 27-51-00
Schematic Diagram: 27-50-00 [ Global Express ]  [ G5000 ]  [ Global XRS ]
Wiring Diagram: 27-50-03 [ Global Express ]  [ G5000 ]  [ Global XRS ]
27-50-04 [ Global Express ]  [ G5000 ]  [ Global XRS ]

Fault Description:

  • Slat/Flap Control Unit (SFCU) 1 or SFCU 2 does not receive input from the Slat/Flap Control Handle (SFCH), OR
  • Input from one or both Rotary Variable Differential Transformers (RVDTs) inside the Slat/Flap Control Handle are not matched in the acceptable range

Possible Causes:

  • Slat/Flap Control Unit (SFCU) 1 (A124)
  • Slat/Flap Control Unit (SFCU) 2 (A95)
  • Slat/Flap Selector Handle (MT79)
  • Associated Wiring

Troubleshooting Recommendations:

  1. On the EMS CDU, select CTRL function and SLAT/FLAP RESET.
NOTE: Wait at least one minute after SFCU reset to allow self-test to run.
  2. Cycle the flaps from IN/0 degrees to OUT/30 degrees.

    1. If system checks are good, do close out.
    2. If fault remains, continue with next step.

  3. Swap SFCU 1 with SFCU 2.

    1. If the system checks are good, replace SFCU 1 and do close out.
    2. If fault remains, continue with next step.

  4. Move the SFCL to a different detent.

    1. If system checks are good, do close out.
    2. If fault remains, continue with next step.
NOTE: SFCU 1 is the left side (channel 1) controller. SFCU 2 is the right side (channel 2) controller.

  5. Perform a Slat/Flap Control Handle resistance check of the applicable SFCU.

    SFCU 1:

Function From To Expected Result Result
    Excitation channel 1 A124AP1-28 A124AP1-27 29 to 41 ohms
    Excitation channel 2 A124AP1-41 A124AP1-40 29 to 41 ohms
    Pos. S2 channel 1 A124AP1-18 A124AP1-32 20 to 28 ohms
    Pos. S1 channel 1 A124AP1-19 A124AP1-32 20 to 28 ohms
    Pos. S2 channel 2 A124AP1-51 A124AP1-38 20 to 28 ohms
    Pos. S1 channel 2 A124AP1-52 A124AP1-38 20 to 28 ohms

    SFCU 2:

Function From To Expected Result Result
    Excitation channel 1 A95AP1-28 A95AP1-27 29 to 41 ohms
    Excitation channel 2 A95AP1-41 A95AP1-40 29 to 41 ohms
    Pos. S2 channel 1 A95AP1-18 A95AP1-32 20 to 28 ohms
    Pos. S1 channel 1 A95AP1-19 A95AP1-32 20 to 28 ohms
    Pos. S2 channel 2 A95AP1-51 A95AP1-38 20 to 28 ohms
    Pos. S1 channel 2 A95AP1-52 A95AP1-38 20 to 28 ohms

    1. If resistance is within range, go to step 7.
    2. If fault remains, continue with next step.

  6. Perform wiring checks between the applicable SFCU and the SFCH.

    1. If wiring checks are not good, repair defective wiring as required and do close out.
    2. If wiring checks are good, continue with next step.

  7. Replace SFCH.
NOTE: The connectors on the SFCH cannot be exchanged because they are keyed differently.
  8. Do close out.
